Great cars at good prices.
I was in the process of researching my next car, an E Class 350 CDi Coupe, when I stumbled across this Blue Efficiency Sport variant at Gordon Fraser Cars in Johnstone. I was particularly pleased with the information in the advert as, it said I could have the car with silver wheels, if I preferred, thank goodness. At the time it was sporting black alloys with red rim defenders which, to my eyes, did not suit the car at all. I asked if I could have a quick look at the car and couldn't believe that the mileage was under 18K. The car was barely run in and in absolutely immaculate condition. To be honest, I wasn't ready to buy at the time but, the car was in such good condition, I decided to make the effort.Time was against me that day so, I made an appointment to inspect and test drive the car at the weekend. When my son and I arrived to look at it, two heads being better than one as they say, Gordon was busy with another customer, his business partner Fraser was available to show me the car. As we walked around it, Fraser answered my questions. There was no sales pressure at all, just an exchange of information, it was, all in all, a very pleasant experience. We went for a test drive after an exchange of details and car keys, which was all very painless. When we got back, I was delighted and determined to have it, it had performed flawlessly.Terms were discussed, which included getting the alloys returned to the bright silver finish, a full MOT, and a couple of new tyres on the rear. They were still legal but, were getting close to needing replacement, Fraser said he wouldn't have felt comfortable letting the car go without them being done. I was also given a full length body cover which, the previous owner had bought for the car.I was particularly pleased with the price offered for my trade in too. So, everything agreed, to a mutually satisfactory level, I collected the car a week later. Dealing with Fraser and Gordon was a very pleasant experience, they were polite, courteous and attentive without being intrusive, or pushy, basically they let a well prep'd car sell itself, a lesson that other vendors could benefit from adopting.Well done guys and thank you very much.
I'm a lifelong petrolhead and VERY picky when it comes to buying a car. I was in the market for a 530d and had only found a handful in the UK that had all the options I wanted at the price I was willing to pay. I called and spoke with Gordon about the 530d he had in stock. He immediately pegged me as a car guy and was very forthcoming with tons of information about the car, as well as its history. He even offered to put me in touch with the previous owner if I wanted, which was a very generous gesture.Two days later, I was on a plane from London to Glasgow to pick up the car. I was taking a bit of a leap of faith, but Gordon came across as incredibly honest and trustworthy, so I was confident that I would show up and the car would be as he described it to me. I was picked up from Glasgow International Airport and brought to the dealership (also a nice gesture). The car was absolutely perfect and was 100% as described. There were no issues with the vehicle that Gordon hadn't previously told me about. He let me take my time to look over the car. There was no pressure whatsoever. It was easily the most relaxed car buying environment I've ever been in. Once I was satisfied with what I was about to buy, and after a quick test drive, we did all the paperwork. Gordon went online and got the road tax handled for me and I was soon on my way home back to Cambridge. A couple weeks after buying the 530d, I took it to an independent BMW mechanic to have the gearbox fluid changed. Although BMW says it has "lifetime" fluid, the manufacturer (ZF) says it should be changed at 50k miles. Naturally, I searched for the best mechanic I could find, which happened to be M-Tek in Northampton. I had them do a complete check over of the entire vehicle while it was in the air, just to ensure all was sound. There literally was NOTHING the mechanic could find that needed to be addressed. The Managing Director, Ian, said that he's never seen a used BMW in the 65k mile range ever come out of an inspection with no faults.In the car's past life, Gordon Frasier actually cared for the car mechanically as well, so that speaks volumes about the comprehensiveness of this dealership. I can't stress enough how pleased I am with them and how genuine, upfront and honest Gordon was with me throughout the process. Although it was less than convenient to fly to Glasgow for a car, it was worth every penny to me knowing that I have a completely mechanically sound vehicle purchased from a dealer that could tell me everything about the vehicle's provenance. Gordon even checked in with me afterwards to see how I was liking the car!
